Reducing the Negative Effects of Culture Differences

Within a Community of Practice, shared models/beliefs can reduce the negative effects of culture differences, enabling more clear communication to be undertaken, and facilitating the use of empathy.

This thereby leads to the development of a more suitable (and successful) knowledge transfer environment.

In the context of University – Industry projects, these differences in culture, experiences and background are often the primary obstacles needing to be overcome before a successful partnership can be fostered. Communities of Practice can therefore be very useful.
