Where is Organisational Knowledge Stored?


In addition to the people who work there, for a typical organisation there are 5 other main storage areas for organisational knowledge that should be considered (Walsh & Ungson):

  1. Culture summarises the history and values of a business.
  2. Structures encode behaviour and define job roles.
  3. Processes and standard operating procedures embody knowledge.
  4. Physical settings of an organisation shapes behaviour.
  5. Archives and data storage retain records of both activities, and possible solutions.
